Investing in Plants
Posted by admin on December 30, 2010
It is usually easy to buy a plant, tree, or shrub and just plant it in current soil. Or, one may make some amendments to the soil or fertilize at some points. But, we feel it is important to keep in mind the investment over time one can have in a plant. There will be watering daily, weekly, or monthly depending on climate. There will be fertilizing, amending top soil, weeding, mulching, and trimming of leaves or branches. These 5 tips will help ensure maximum investment:
- Dig a big hole in the beginning and plant with great soil.
- Water often enough the first year to ensure the plant gets a strong root system.
- Mulch.
- Fertilize with an organic fertilizer. This will last longer than a chemical fertilizer.
- Ensure weeds don’t send roots at the base to sap energy.
